Philodendron, Alocasia, and Anthurium Illustration

This is a project I created for DKNG Studios’ Skillshare class. I chose three plants to illustrate in iconic form — Philodendron Gloriosum, Alocasia Frydek, and Anthurium Clarinervium. I chose these three because I found it interesting to create a simple recognizable symbol for each leaf pattern.
I started with these sketch ideas before working in Adobe Illustrator:
From there I developed a color scheme, set of rules, and style to create each of the final icons:
